The 2nd Foreign Trade Summit, organized by Istanbul Kultur University (IKU) Department of International Trade and Finance in collaboration with DIŞYÖNDER, was held on November 7, 2025, under the theme “Turkey's Vision for a Sustainable Foreign Trade Surplus.”
Organized by the Department of International Trade and Finance, Istanbul Kültür University hosted 15 students from DHBW Mannheim University between September 18-23, 2025. Within the scope of the event, which was held for the second time this year, students from DHBW Mannheim University began joint projects with our students from the Department of International Trade and Finance.
This year’s opening lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Martin Kornmeier from DHBW Mannheim University. With his valuable insights in the field of International Trade and Finance, Prof. Dr. Kornmeier inspired our students and contributed to the successful completion of the orientation program for both our Turkish and English departments. Thus, we have officially launched the 2025–2026 academic year.
On May 15, 2025, hosted by Istanbul Kültür University, Department of International Trade and Finance, and in collaboration with the Association of Foreign Trade Leaders (DIŞYÖNDER), the event titled "Among the Giants in Global Trade: Taxes, the US and China" was organized. As part of the event, global trade wars, increasing taxes and Türkiye's situation were discussed. The panel addressed the development of international trade organizations from past to present, Türkiye's position as a logistics hub and the processes of adapting to the changing paradigm.
We organized our Cupcake Coffee Day event on May 14th at 14:00 on the ground floor of Istanbul Kültür University Küçükçekmece Campus by Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences International Trade and Finance Department. Poster presentations of our department courses Social Responsibility Project and Social Responsibility Project were exhibited, the certificate of the project carried out with our department Erasmus Partner University DHBW was presented and our athletes were given certificates of appreciation.
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, with the support of Istanbul Kültür University, International Trade and Finance Department, a "Sustainability Summit" was organized at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, by the Green For Youth team led by high school students from various provinces of Turkey. In the congress, UTC department vice chair Dr. N.Elif Küçük made an opening speech, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meri Taksi Deveciyan, from the department, made a motivational speech to the young people.
"The Alumni Talks" was held on Thursday, May 8th at the Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall in collaboration with the Istanbul Kültür University Graduate School and the Department of International Trade and Finance. Istanbul Kültür University International Trade 2019 graduate, first rank student of the school and currently a Psychology Master's student at IKU, Expert Clinical Psychologist Damla Şevval Erkent and Istanbul Kültür University 2023 Logistics Master's graduate and Cold Truck Log General Manager Bülent Karakoyunlu were our guests at the event.
Our International Trade and Finance Department Turkish and English programs have been awarded a 3-year accreditation certificate by the Social, Human and Basic Sciences Accreditation and Rating Association (STARAK), which aims to raise the education standards of universities in Turkey.
Within the scope of the "Financial Management" and "Financial Literacy" courses given in the Department of International Trade and Finance (Turkish-English), the AGORA FINTECH Fair held at the Istanbul (Yeşilköy) Fair Center was visited. The visit, which took place on Thursday, April 17, was coordinated by Assist. Prof. Didem Kayalıdere, one of our academicians from the Department of International Trade and Finance.
On March 13, 2025, we, as the Department of International Trade and Finance and the Department of International Relations, held a Gender Equality Workshop at the Kucukcekmece Campus.
